Role Overview:

The Accountant will play a key role in managing financial operations for certain Cogent’s entities, including Germany. This role involves day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, accounts payable management, VAT compliance, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and assisting with monthly and annual closings. The ideal candidate should have 1-2 years background in accounting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Accountant will support the General Ledger and Accounts Payable team.

Compensation: €40,000-€45,000/yr.

Specific offers within the listed pay ranges are determined by a variety of factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and business needs.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Bank Posting & Reconciliation:
  • Post daily bank transactions and perform timely reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Accounts Payable:
  • Review, code, and post A/P invoices accurately and in line with company guidelines
  • Customer Account Clearing & Billing Reconciliation:
  • Clear customer accounts and handle reconciliation requests related to billing discrepancies
  • Prepayment Management:
  • Prepare and post prepayments in coordination with operational teams
  • VAT Reporting:
  • Compile and submit VAT reports in compliance with local regulations and deadlines
  • Statutory Accounting Packages:
  • Prepare and send monthly data packages to local statutory accounting services, ensuring compliance and timeliness
  • Administrative & Operational Support:
  • Support finance-related administrative tasks as needed

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Vocational training or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in multinational company
  • Basic knowledge of VAT law (UST-Recht).
  • Understanding of German Commercial Code (HGB); knowledge of US-GAAP is an advantage
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Fluency in German and English, other European language “a plus”
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate initiative. Be service minded
  • Have experience with E.R.P (Navision preferably)
