Compensation: €40,000/yr.

Specific offers within the listed pay ranges are determined by a variety of factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and management of the ROW Cogent network and assurance of the service level based on the established standard procedures as well as customer support either on technical issues or on information distribution
  • The NOC Engineer will join the NOC team of Cogent Communications in Madrid which monitors ROW network on a 24x7 support
  • Monitoring of the IP over DWDM network to ensure KPI´s and SLA´s are achieved
  • Provide 1st line customer and technical support for all layer 1, 2 and 3 services provided by Cogent, interacting with Cogent customers via phone and e-mail in order to resolve their service issues, respond to their technical questions and achieve customer satisfaction
  • Monitor all customer services and Cogent ROW Network using management tools and systems provided for this purpose and following standard Operational procedures
  • Ensure that network and customers issues are accurately documented in the trouble ticketing system
  • Interact effectively with all members of the Cogent Operations team as well as providers to ensure swift resolution of network and customer issues
  • Management of internal and vendor planned maintenances impacting Cogent European Network

Qualifications:

  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of other languages would be an asset
  • At least 2 years of working experience in a similar position at a network operator
  • Cisco equipment experience and certifications (CCNA/CCNP) will be highly valued
  • Good technical knowledge in the area of networking (TCP/IP), IP protocols (BGP, IGP, MPLS), IP addressing, DNS and IP-VPN
  • Experience working with optical transmission networks (DWDM) and their associated network management platforms (Cisco MSTP), would be an asset
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Customer focused and eager to learn
  • Team player worker and capable to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Availability to work on morning or evening shifts, Monday to Sunday basis
